Paul is the contractor at Glenn Gate Construction. When we set out to expand on our existing deck, we got contacted several companies locally in the Greenville, Spartanburg SC area. Only a few responded with prices ranging from very expensive to outrageously expensive. At this time in construction the prices are overall high, but Paul came in around the middle in the price range. Paul was very upfront during the quoting process, saying with the demand that it might take 3 months before he could start the project. This was inline with the other companies. What set Glenn Gate apart from the others:- Paul was responsive, always getting back to us about details, changes, options, how to reduce costs, etc. Within 1-2 days, he would give us. revised quote.- Price and flexibility: We changed the overall job a few times before start of construction. Paul was very open about the prices change - up and down (no surprises and very honest). At the last minute, we added a thid parking spot to our driveway in addition to the patio and deck - the costs different was extremely low -he was honest about it - added the concrete and very little labor needed to do it - came in less than $1000.Timing for construction: we were very flexible and so was he. We expected a construction start date in Jan or Feb. he called us just before thanksgiving and said he could start that week. we agreed - patio and driveway were complete finished in 4 days. - I will explain the overall time it took later. Then two weeks later, he came out and did the deck - two two days.Quality of work: As in every project, there are small things that need to be corrected. Before Paul had a chance to inspect the work, I called him about some details on the patio and sent him a pic via email. He and the sub-contractor came out the next day and re-finished the entire patio that day. No questions, no excuses - JUST DID IT. Patio and driveway look fantastic! The deck, very professionally done - overall within two days the entire deck was put up. We were 90% satisfied, but there were some minor issues. Again, 1 email and he came out with the sub-contractor and talked to me about it. They fixed everything that day - excellent work.Professionalism: Not only was the communication professional, but so it the way he runs the business. He didn't ask for payment until the work was completed and the quality was agreed to. That means - per our contract there were three payments. Small down-payment, payment for the concrete work and a final payment for the deck. At each step he didn't ask for any money, until we both agreed on the quality of the work.The project was stress-free and we love our new deck and patio!Others are also impressed. We live is a new home, and the builder came by a neighbors house and saw the construction. They commented to my wife on the quality of the work, and said that he wanted their contact to do some work at his house! The work speaks for itself. read less

I was looking for someone that could add a roof over our back deck. I had two quotes but something told me to get one more. I stumbled across Glenn Gate Construction’s website. I saw their reviews were exceptional and the photos of their work looked like exactly what I was in search of. I contacted them through their website. Within an hour I had a follow up response from Paul and we met the next day. When Paul came out to discuss my idea with me it was obvious that he was knowledgeable. He listened to my ideas and visions. I knew at that point that this was the person I wanted to work with. Within about two days I received a quote. The quote was a bit higher than the other two previously received but after meeting Paul something told me that I was going to get a better value for the extra costs. And let me tell you, we sure did. Our covered porch came out amazing. Paul and his team were extremely professional and courteous of our neighbors and HOA requirements. They pulled permits, had formal inspections, and followed through with making sure everything necessary for protecting our investment was provided. Our porch has been completed for about six weeks now and we haven’t let a day go by that we haven’t been out enjoying it. Rain or shine. If you are looking for a good contractor, that provides a professional looking product, while most importantly communicates throughout the process... Then trust me, give Paul a call.
